Organize a Drive or Event
Are you interested in planning events? Maybe you have a new fundraising idea for Rise? We would be thrilled to work with you! Rise is always in need of help to organize food or product drives throughout the year, and we are always on the look-out for new fundraising thoughts – no idea too big or too small!
Drive and Event Examples and Ideas
Rise has a number of annual drives throughout the year. If you are interested in organizing or participating in one of the following drives, please contact the Rise office 609-443-4464.
Food Drives including non-perishable items. See attached list of Food Donations Requested.
Baby Supplies including wipes, diapers, and baby food (not formula)
Personal Care Items including shampoo, soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes, razors, and deodorant.
Seasonal Food Drive Needs: Rise is able to provide goods and services to our clients because of generous donations from individuals, businesses, civic organization, houses of worship, and grants. We always need assistance with planning, coordinating, pickup and delivery of donations, and distribution of the items.
Winter Coat Drive-(December-January)-Collection of new and gently used winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves for adults and children
Share the Love Personal Care Drive (February)- During the month of February, individuals and local businesses conduct collections of much needed personal care items. See attached list of Personal Care Donations Requested.
Soles for Souls (March-April)- Rise collects new and gently-used shoes and boots to be distributed at the Rise office.
Summer Camp Drive (March-June)-The Rise Summer Camp has a wishlist of items which can supplement our existing supplies. We are always interested in small musical instruments, arts and crafts, sporting equipment, beach-related items like pails, shovels, etc., board games, classroom supplies, and first aid items. See attached list of Summer Camp Wish list items.
Back to School Backpack Drive (June-August)- Each year, Rises strives to provide a backpack filled with age-appropriate school supplies to low-income area children. The East Windsor Regional School District provides school-year based supply lists. Some of the items requested include: backpacks, insulated lunch bags, pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, glue sticks, highlighters, Sharpies, crayons, pencil sharpeners, scissors, tape, and post-it notes.
Encourage a Child to Read (June-October)- Childrens books for all age-groups are collected for distribution in the office and at the Rise Summer Camp. During office visits, clients are encouraged to take a donated book and encourage a love of reading in their children.
Thanksgiving Food Drive (September-November)- Rise provides hundreds of low-income families with a basket of food, including a turkey, for Thanksgiving. Food collection begins in early October and distribution occurs during the week before Thanksgiving.
Holiday Gift Drive and Adopt A Family Program (November-December)- Each December, Rise coordinates a holiday party with the Junior League of Greater Princeton and distributes holiday gifts to local children in need. Each child is registered and a generous sponsor is matched to every child. In addition, local businesses and individuals choose to ‘Adopt a Family’ and purchase presents for an entire family. This program is labor-intensive and requires a dedicated team of volunteers to ensure that each child experiences a little joy during the holiday season and each parent has a small burden lifted from their shoulders.
Dunk A Ram (August-October)-The Hightstown High School Football team participates in the ‘Dunk A Ram’ event during the annual Hightstown Harvest Fair. Tickets are sold and canned food is collected to have the opportunity to send the football player of your choice into the dunk tank. Area dignitaries including the Mayor of Hightstown, the High School Football Coaches and the Rise Summer Camp Coordinator can also be seen in the dunk tank! Proceeds benefit the Rise Food Pantry.
Empty Bowls Fundraiser – “Empty Bowls” fundraiser sponsored by The Hightstown Cultural Arts Commission to support Rise, a Community Service Partnership. Each bowl is handcrafted by artist Adam Welch, local eateries donate soup to fill the bowls and everyone brings a bowl home at the end! All of the event’s proceeds are donated to the Rise Food Pantry.
Benefit Concert – The Voices and Friends of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church sponsored a Gospel concert to benefit Rise.
Volunteer Appreciation (August-October)- Rise recognizes the importance of our volunteers. An annual event is held in October to share our appreciation for volunteers who make it possible for Rise to help individuals and families in need within our community.
